Andrew Tank is the most recent addition to the Maddox Law Firm, having joined the firm in February 2010, after two and a half years with Condo Kelly & Byrnes, where he dedicated his practice exclusively to family law.

He has experience in a variety of areas of family law, including custody, equitable distribution, child and spousal support, as well as domestic violence.  In representing his clients, he seeks to achieve an expedient and amicable settlement to minimize the financial burden of litigation, and the stress, anxiety, and emotional strain family law disputes cause to the parties and children involved.

Andrew also understands that it takes two sides to reach a fair settlement and that litigation is sometimes unavoidable in order to protect his client's interests.  When negotiation fails, an attorney's recourse is to seek equity and justice through the court system, and once there he will zealously and skillfully advocate his client's position.  Andrew steadfastly believes that there is no substitute for diligent and thoughtful preparation, which he considers to be a duty owed by every attorney to his or her client.

No matter how contentious the case, Andrew is committed to comporting himself in a courteous manner, consistent with codes of professionalism and civility.  He takes prides in his ability to empathize with his client's emotional needs, while maintaining the level of objectivity necessary to advise them and represent their interests.

Andrew's parents divorced when he was a teenager, so he understands the personal and emotional nature of family law cases, and the profound and pervasive impact they have on the lives of the parties and their children.  He knows first hand that the results of a family law case can affect every aspect of the parties' lives.

Andrew was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  He had the good fortune to move to Alexandria, Virginia when he was three years old and he has called Northern Virginia home ever since.  He attended Mount Vernon High School.  He received his undergraduate degree in psychology from James Madison University and his law degree from the University of Richmond's TC Williams School of Law, where he graduated cum laude.

Andrew is an active member of the Virginia State Bar's Young Lawyers Conference and the Fairfax Bar Association.  He served as Athletics Program Chair for the state bar's annual meeting in Virginia Beach in 2009 and 2010, and he was elected as a board member for the Fairfax Bar Association's young lawyer's division in June of 2010.

Andrew currently resides in McLean, Virginia. His interests include sports, biographies, and American history.  He holds the unique distinction of being the heaviest identical twin ever delivered at the hospital in which he was born.

Our office is located in Vienna, near Tyson's Corner in Northern Virginia, and our family law attorneys routinely handle cases in Arlington County, Fairfax County, Fauquier County, Loudoun County and Prince William County, as well as in the city of Alexandria.
