Marcia M. Maddox is a fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers; she is presently a member of the Board of Governors of this organization.  As a result of her involvement with this Academy, Mrs. Maddox is personally acquainted with family law barristers and solicitors in the United Kingdom and Australia, as well as matrimonial lawyers in numerous foreign countries in Europe, Asia and South America.  Over the past ten years, Mrs. Maddox has been involved in diverse international matrimonial cases with a Virginia connection.  She has represented clients living in foreign countries where the other party is a resident of Virginia, and has represented Virginia residents where the other party is located in a foreign country.  In the course of this representation, Mrs. Maddox has initiated Virginia divorce and custody cases where one litigant is in Virginia and the other is overseas, and she has cooperated with foreign counsel in cases being conducted abroad.  Additionally, because of Mrs. Maddox’s ability to obtain legal advice from matrimonial attorneys around the world, she is able to obtain information as to the specifics of matrimonial laws and procedures practiced in foreign jurisdictions world wide.
